Local resident. First time user. Surprise wedding anniversary overnight for No. 47. Very serene & quiet. Happy hour, breakfast & meal at the inn all very nice. Terrific for small groups. We enjoyed our stay.
Did not see any deer.
Beautiful setting; able to walk around the Middleton Place grounds. Friendly staff, comfortable, attractive, clean room, and good food. Highly recommend!
We liked the location. It was very quiet and secluded. We enjoyed the lakehouse every morning for breakfast. The atmosphere was good.
The rooms need updating. The bed was extremely uncomfortable! Our maid service was poor the second day. We had to ask for things to be replaced. Could stand to be a little cleaner.
General environment. Activities available. Easy access to food, recreation and historical locations. Evening cocktails and morning breakfast.
The ambience, proximity and access to Middleton Place, the grounds, the amenities, and hospitality of staff. We had a wonderful time.
Beautiful gardens on the Plantation, well worth walking around. Fireplace could be nice in cold weather but we didn't discover the wood until the next morning.
Out dated bathrooms, dirty linens, long hike up to the second floor with heavy suitcase. Bad lighting at night around buildings. Poor signage to breakfast building. The inn charges for any cancellation, no matter how far in advance.
The hotel is located in the historical plantation.
The grand room's very dirty with spider's web, dust and smelled musty and stale. Don't be deceived by the photos on the website. It looks like exquisite but actually rather shabby. Almost all the windows except two little ones cannot be opened. You have to suffer terrible smell. Of course spider's net bestowed these windows. And you have to suffer the noise of the upstairs. The breakfast is not good, if you want to order something, it's pricy.
We loved the restaurant and the gardens. We had a wonderful meal at the restaurant and the waitress was very nice. The walk through the gardens were wonderful (we even saw 6 alligators on the grass). The room was big and we loved the windows on two walls to view the Ashley river and see the sunrise and sunset. Loved the benches along the river to rest and relax, and the evening wine and cheese was a very nice touch.
The mattress wasn't good, we both rolled into the center. Also, the bathroom wall was dirty (like smoke from the fireplace). Would be excellent if they would repaint the bathroom and get new mattresses. The cleaning staff must have come in to make the bed and left the front door cracked open with our things inside.
The peace and quite is always a good thing no one bothered you everything you want is at the INN. I highly recommended this place and make sure you take on all the tours they offer.
The Inn was located on the Ashley River inside the grounds of Middleton Place plantation. Included in the room price was admission to the grounds, which allowed us three days of roaming and exploring the natural and historical grounds. We walked the path along the River to eat dinner at the Restaurant, where the wait staff was impeccable and the food was outstanding. We thoroughly enjoyed the peace and quiet, as well as the wood-burning fireplace in the room. I cannot wait for a return visit!
Although the literature says the path to the restaurant is "lit for your safety", there was very little lighting along the way. Had we not carried a powerful flashlight (not the one from the room) we would have had a difficult and possibly dangerous walk to dinner. Many large roots reach across the path as well as very old brick steps. Nonetheless, with our flashlight, it was a beautiful walk and unique dining experience.
